Aune Safety & Connectivity Project Open House

With the coming of expanded development in the Old Mill District, as well as the new Jackstraw housing and future housing in the Timber Yards development, there will be a need for better access for people driving, walking and biking in this part of our neighborhood.

The City has recognized how difficult this area is for crossing the street and accessing the businesses. They are exploring different ways to improve several intersections and streets from the Aune Street undercrossing of the Bend Parkway to and along NE Third Street up to Burnside Avenue.

An online open house and survey for the new Aune Safety and Connectivity Project has just been opened. Visit it here from September 10-24 to learn more and provide your opinion.

The open house states that if the project is approved the upgrades will:

  • Reduce vehicle conflict points
  • Enhance accessibility for all users of the existing Aune Street undercrossing to support east-west connectivity
  • Improve key routes for cyclists and pedestrians
By implementing complete street connections and safety improvements, the project will make driving safer, walking and biking more comfortable, and strengthen connections between the Old Mill District and east Bend.
