How to Vote during the General Membership Meeting (2020 edition)

As with everything this year the Southern Crossing NA's annual General Membership meeting is going online and so our board elections will be digital as well!

We will be conducing our board election via a safe online survey tool. The ballot for the board election will also include a yes/no vote on amendments to SCNA's bylaws.

The ballot link will be shared in the Zoom chat during the meeting. The link will be active for the duration of the General Membership meeting on Tuesday, November 17th 6-7 pm and until noon on Wednesday to allow members time to vote.

Every vote will be completely anonymous and each person may only vote one time.

If you have inquiries about the voting process, board nominations, or would like assistance voting online, please email us at [email protected], at least an hour prior to the meeting, and we will be in touch.

Candidate Bios

Deby DeWeese
Vice Chair / Land Use Chair

Deby DeWeese has been serving as your Vice Chair/Land Use Chair for 18 months.  She has helped neighbors understand how to submit public comments for small to large developments on over 25 projects so far just this year.

She was invited to sit on the Neighborhood Leadership Alliance Land Use Working Group where she works to improve Development Codes and is working on projects to educate neighbors and other Land Use chairs on how the complicated Bend land use processes work.

This year she started a networking group for all the 13 Land Use Chairs in Bend and their first project was a City Council Candidate Forum with a focus on land use that had record attendance.

Since learning that Pahlisch Homes is buying the COID land and plans on putting 750 homes there, Deby has been working with Pahlisch and Bend Parks and Rec to try to save as many of the trails on that land as possible as well as giving input on traffic patterns.  She is running unopposed.

Proposed Bylaw Revisions

During the General Membership meeting members will also be asked to vote on updates to Southern Crossing NA's bylaws. The Board is recommending approval of the bylaw changes.

The primary updates would allow for electronic meetings, as well as electronic balloting. The other changes are minor in nature and include: making it it easier for Board members and members to add agenda items to Board meetings, and allowing all Board members to make motions in between meetings.
