Update on Development Coming to Southern Crossing Neighborhood Association

Southern Crossing is continuing to experience exponential growth. At our October general meeting, we reported that some 1,100+ new residential units were in the various stages of development in our neighborhood. Since then, developers have held public meetings for proposed projects adding another 1,870 units of housing to Southern Crossing. These include:

The Timber Yards will be one of the most significant new developments in Southern Crossing. The proposed project on 33+ acres zoned Mixed-Use Urban is located at 175 SW Industrial Way (East and North of SW Bond Street, adjacent to the Box Factory and the Old Mill District) in the area known as KorPine. Initial plans call for approximately 1,600 residential units (including 250 affordable senior housing units), 180-room hotel, 120,000 SF of offices, and 70,000 SF supporting retail, all within an interconnected mixed-use development.

The Altana is located near the intersections of SW Century Drive and SW Mt Bachelor Drive and SW Reed Market Road and SW Mt Bachelor Drive. It will have 270-275 units of rental apartments with 306 spaces of off-street parking. The entrance will be from Mt. Bachelor Drive and not Reed Market Road or Century Drive.

Public meetings are held to provide a forum for the developer and neighbors to discuss the proposed development prior to its application submission to the City of Bend. We anticipate applications for these projects to be completed soon, and when they are, the City sends an official notice which starts a 14-day clock for the public to file their concerns.
