April Board and Monthly Updates

Hello again everyone.

Well, I think we all survived “Snowmageddon” or was it being called “Snowpocalypse” this year? In any case, I hope spring is treating you well so far. We’ve had some cloudy and drizzly days but there have also been several glorious sunny moments that remind me there is much to enjoy outside in Central Oregon. I’m looking forward to getting out there and living the Bend life. How about you?

But back indoors, we have our Southern Crossing Neighborhood Association (SCNA) monthly board meeting this Thursday (4/18) from 6:00 pm – 8:00pm. It will be held at Hampton Inn and Suites this month. Everyone is welcome to attend. Their address is 730 SW Columbia St, right along the river and across from the Old Mill.

We have a couple of events for you already planned for this summer with more to come.  On May 20th, SCNA will be hosting a Speaker Night in the Deschutes Brewery Mountain Room!  We will have more details soon. However, you can be assured we will have lively and important topics up for discussion as we head into summer. Not to mention the very good likelihood of a great sunset view and incredible hospitality provided by Deschutes Brewery. Deschutes Brewery is generously partnering with us to provide space for our speaker events and additional support for our other community-wide events. So keep an eye out for more details on the May 20th speaker night and other happenings with SCNA and Deschutes Brewery.

Also being planned is our annual picnic, scheduled for August 24th. Be sure to save that date and we will provide more details soon.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Va Piano Vineyards and the staff there (especially Mauri) who graciously allowed us to set an info table inside their tasting room in the Old Mill during April’s First Friday. Did you know they have a Sunday Locals Happy Hour? You should check it out.

Again, all are welcome to come to the Board Meeting this Thursday. And if anyone is interested helping out with some fun outreach events such as First Friday in the Old Mill, special SCNA happy hours or “coffee klatch” meetups at our various business partners, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any SCNA board member.

Below you will find some links to city events and notices. Many of you may already get this information directly from the city or via Next Door. But I’m putting much of what I can that comes over the “news feed” here as a summary between our SCNA e-mail blasts/blog posts.
