Deschutes Alert System
Emergencies can happen with little or no notice, at any time of the day or night. Deschutes Alerts allows you to receive emergency notifications about threats to your safety. You can opt-in to receive notifications via phone calls, text messages, email, and more based on the locations you care about. The service area for Deschutes Alerts includes Deschutes County, Crooked River Ranch, and Camp Sherman in the State of Oregon.

In the event of an emergency, Deschutes County officials can identify an affected area and, if necessary, send a message that describes the situation and recommend protective actions people should take. Deschutes Alerts will automatically call all land-line and opt-in telephone numbers within that geographic area and deliver the recorded message once a voice is heard. If your phone line is busy, the system will attempt to redial the number three times to make contact. If an answering machine or voice mail system picks up the call, an emergency message will be recorded.
Example events that may trigger Deschutes Alerts:
- Emergency Evacuations (Fire, Flooding, Public Welfare, etc.)
- Natural Disasters (Fire, Flooding, etc.)
- Missing or Endangered Person
- Severe Weather
- Hazardous Material Incidents
- Neighborhood Emergencies
Emergency services sends alerts based on where the emergency is occurring. When you register, please ensure you type in your physical address in Deschutes County, Crooked River Ranch or Camp Sherman. Do not put in a PO Box or a second home in another county or state. You will not receive alerts if you are outside the notification boundary determined by emergency services.
