Last fall there was a public meeting for a proposed 42-lot “shared court” subdivision prior to the developer submitting a formal application to the City. That application has now been submitted, and the City is inviting public comment.

The proposed development is located at the northwest corner of the intersection of SW Shevlin Hixon Drive and SW Columbia Street. The individual lots are intended to accommodate 3-story townhouses. You can review the application, along with plans and supporting data, here.

Written comments on this application must be received by March 6, 2025 and must reference project number PLLD20240689. Comments may be emailed to [email protected] or mailed to the City of Bend Planning Division, 710 Wall St., Bend, Oregon 97703

The City of Bend is seeking public participation in selecting a site for inclusion within the City of Bend’s Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) under Senate Bill 1537. Two site applications are being considered, but only one site up to 100 acres can be added to the UGB through the SB 1537 process. The City Council may also choose to select a portion of a site or to not proceed with either site. The city has a dedicated web page for this effort here.

You can download the city’s notice with details of participation opportunities here. These start with an online public open house here, which will be available through December 4. This will be followed by a public meeting with the City Council on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at 7:00 pm. (Information on the public meeting is included in the city’s notice.) The City of Bend will hold a hybrid public hearing on Bend Development Code changes to address two areas:

  • Prohibit new auto-dependent uses in the Convenience Commercial zoning district
  • Amend the Short Term Rentals code for Neighborhood Commercial district properties to apply the same review type, concentration limit, and number of units allowed as the underlying residential land use designation

The hearing is on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at 7:00 pm. You may attend in person in council chambers at 710 NW Wall Street.   • Eliminate requirement for building permits in advance of middle housing land division
  • Remove option to request appeal to City Council on development applications, or for Council to review decisions by the hearings officer or planning commission
  • Support development of town homes, cottage developments and shared courts
