]]>Speed humps are not shown on this 30% design, but the city plans to have 1 or 2 in the final design. City road standards will not allow user activated crosswalk warning lights in this location. However, there will be signage to warn drivers approaching the crosswalks, possibly including steady flashing lights like those located at the Bond Street crosswalk near the Box Factory.
The design includes a wide marked crosswalk over Reed Market on each side of Chamberlain. There is also a narrowed pavement width on Chamberlain, and a narrowed entry from Reed Market, which will encourage lower speeds. Bicycle sharrow markings will also be on the pavement. A 6-foot wide ssidewalk with a rolled curb is located along the west side of Chamberlain.

]]>The Environmental Center (TEC) is working with Energy Trust of Oregon to help ensure access to Energy Trust incentives to communities who have historically been overlooked by Energy Trust programs, such as low to moderate income households, people of color, indigenous communities, people experiencing disabilities, and rural communities. TEC works with households in Central Oregon to complete free energy assessments of their homes and then help them access free or low cost energy upgrades.
Home upgrades like insulation, efficient heating systems, hybrid water heaters, and new windows can increase the comfort of your home and save you money on your energy bills.
To learn more or sign up, visit the TEC Home Energy Assessment page or call (541) 508-5948.

]]>Why install solar? It saves money on annual electricity bills and it’s good for the environment. As more residents go solar, it helps build a more sustainable community. Adding battery storage to solar can help it do even more by providing backup power during outages.
Solarize Deschutes includes exclusive discount pricing through pre-qualified Energy Trust solar trade ally contractors. The discounts can be combined with tax credits to save thousands of dollars on a solar installation. Pacific Power customers can also get Energy Trust cash incentives and income-qualified households are eligible for special increased incentive amounts. Renters can participate in Solarize Deschutes by subscribing to a community solar project.
Free educational workshops
Solar Oregon and Energy Trust will host free solar workshops where residents can get answers to all their solar questions. The workshops will explain how solar and battery storage works, how much solar can save on electricity bills, and the discounts and incentives available during this campaign.
Learn more and get a free bid
Beginning August 15, you can learn all about this community campaign by visiting the Solarize Deschutes page on the Energy Trust website to see workshop dates, get more details on Solarize Deschutes and request a free, no-obligation bid.
